The Museum of the University of Tübingen, which has its home in the Renaissance complex of Hohentübingen Castle is located high above the centre of the city and allows a breathtaking amic view above the Swabian Alb. The exhibition shows on 2,000 sqm around 4,600 exhibits from seven archaeological and cultural collections which habe been aquired by the the University of Tübingen over a a cultural-historical period of 40,000 years. Experience the highlights of previous cultures, such as the oldest works of art of mankind that have been found in the caves of Swabian Alb and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017. Find out more about the as UNESCO world heritage appointed stilt houses, the Culture of the Celts, the Egyptian coffin of the Idi with a rare Star calendar and the richly painted sacrificial chamber from Giza and many others. The permanent exhibition includes collections of primary and early history, ancient Oriental studies, egyptology, ancient times eumismatics, ethnology as well as the Classical Archeology Collection. Also worth seeing is the Castle laboratory on the medical history of Friedrich Miescher and Felix Hoppe-Seyler, it was built by Johann G.F. Bohnenberger as well as the the oldest preserved giant wine barrel of the world listed in the Guinness Book.
