Lebkuchen-Schmidt is the most famous producer of the world-renowned specialty from Nuremberg, among other baked delicacies. The traditional company has been shipping its distinct packages around the world since 1927.

Classic German Christmas cookies come in many varieties from “Elisen” to “Zimtsterne”, with other varieties available year-round. The treats are produced with passion following handed-down recipes using the finest ingredients to this day.

Each year, the master bakers at Schmidt not only follow tradition, but innovate new ideas with the “gingerbread of the year”, creating special variations of the beloved classic treat. This year’s version has been christened the “Elisen-Schatz” with rum raisin and an extra helping of hazelnut.

Schmidt also enjoys a company culture that stands apart from the rest. The main shareholder in the company is a non-profit foundation, which is why Lebkuchen-Schmidt is engaged in numerous social, charitable and cultural projects. Since 2023, Schmidt has been the main sponsor of the Christmas Market in Nuremberg and in this way ensures that the Christmas city remains competitive on the national and international level.

The Schmidt group is also committed to the responsible use of resources and has been certified to the exacting ZNU standard for sustainable business practice since 2023.
