Hohenzollern Castle
History with majestic views
Counts, kings and emperors have their roots here: at Hohenzollern Castle. At an altitude of 855 metres, the proud fortress sits enthroned midway between Stuttgart and Lake Constance atop Zoller Mountain (Zollerberg) offering majestic panoramic views across distances of up to 100 kilometres. The castle is still privately owned by the House of Hohenzollern. While touring the exhibition rooms, visitors learn interesting and entertaining facts about the lives of the aristocracy and monarchs. In addition to the magnificent Count’s Hall and the Blue Room, the Treasury, with its Prussian royal crown, or the famous snuff box that once saved Frederick the Great’s life, are particularly impressive. The castle’s café restaurant provides regional specialities and cakes from the farm patisserie. In summer it runs one of the region's most beautiful beer gardens.
