Puma is one of the largest manufacturers of sport articles in the world and is based in Herzogenaurach in Franconia, Germany. The company was founded as a shoe factory by Rudolf Dassler in 1948. Originally, he worked with his brother "Adi" Dassler, but following disputes and differences of opinion and diverging ideas on how to do business, Rudolf Dassler took the step of founding his own company, which he called Puma.
The world-famous company was the outfitter for 12 of the 32 teams in the football World Championships in 2006, including the competition winners, Italy.
